The Process

509 wines bring the taster into the vineyard. Working with some of the region’s best grape growers, 509 grapes are exposed to the perfect amount of sunlight, enhancing both flavor and color. Hand-picked at their peak, grapes are gently crushed to release just enough juice to start fermentation. The introduction of yeast ensures a clean fermentation process, transforming juice into wine and allowing the flavors of the grape, soil, air and sun they were grown in to build.

American or French Oak, new or several years old, barrels are always selected with the goal of showcasing the grapes themselves. The aging process enhances the characteristics of the grape without overwhelming its nature. Bottling followed by bottle-aging marries all the flavors until they are finally ready for their journey to you. Flavors and aromas only increase with additional cellaring, conjuring memories of the vineyard and creating new sensations that will keep interest for years.
